Summer STEM Intern

Part-Time | Temporary | Approximately 50 Hours (5 - 10 hours per week)

About the Opportunity

Are you a tech-savvy high school or college student who enjoys creating content and wants to inspire the next generation of innovators? Frost Equity Initiative is seeking a motivated Summer STEM Intern to help develop STEM curriculum and assist with teaching coding and robotics camps for elementary school students.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in education, technology, artificial intelligence, robotics, or nonprofit work while gaining hands-on experience in curriculum development and classroom instruction.

Responsibilities

Curriculum Development

  • Research and develop ideas for STEM programming focused on coding, robotics, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies.

Quality Assurance

  • Test robotics and coding projects, and instructional materials to identify errors.

  • Ensure curriculum and classroom materials are organized and ready for instruction.

Classroom Support

  • Assist instructors during in-person STEM summer camps for students in grades K–5.

  • Encourage student engagement and help students stay focused during lessons.

  • Provide one-on-one assistance to students as needed.

  • Help set up, organize, and transport classroom materials and robotics equipment (must be able to comfortably lift up to 10 pounds).

Compensation

  • Pay: $18 per hour

  • Employment Type: Part-time, temporary

  • Duration: Approximately 50 total hours. There may be opportunities for additional work during the school year

Work Location

Most work, including curriculum development, will be completed remotely. There would be online Zoom check-ins with your supervisor. The in-person summer camp will be held in Los Angeles. Candidates should be available to assist approximately 3 hours per day during the week of July 23, from 9:30a - 12:30p.

Qualifications

We're looking for someone who has:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • An interest in coding, robotics, artificial intelligence, STEM education, or educational research

  • A willingness to learn and use digital tools such as Google Workspace (Gmail, Google Docs, and Calendar) and Claude/ChatGPT

  • The ability to work independently while meeting deadlines

  • Experience with coding or robotics is a plus, but not required

A background check, paid for by Frost Equity Initiative, may be required for applicants working directly with students.
