Launch Aviation Clubs At Your School or Nonprofit
Minimum grade level: 4th
Frost Equity Initiative partners with schools and non-profits to launch STEAM enrichment Science Clubs for kids and teens. We provide the curriculum and trainers. We work with our clients to develop custom programs based on their goals and budget. Our offerings can vary in length. We've hosted one-day workshops and up to nine-week programs meeting three times a week.
In our Aviation clubs, our students learn through hands-on exercises that cover the following topics:
Flight fundamentals
Basic controls (throttle, pitch, roll, yaw) and how joysticks map to movement
Pre-flight checks, safe takeoff/landing, battery and hardware care
FAA rules — for many youth programs this includes prepping for the TRUST certificate, which is free and required for recreational drone flyers in the US
STEM concepts in context
Aerodynamics and the physics of lift, thrust, and stability
Basic electronics (motors, sensors, propellers, batteries)
Programming/autonomous flight — block-based coding (like Scratch) or Python to script simple flight paths, which pairs well with coding-focused programming
